Comer on Varney & Co: Refusal to Enforce Immigration Laws a Risk to Health, National Security

WASHINGTON—House Oversight & Reform Committee Ranking Member James Comer (R-Ky.) joined Fox Business’ Varney & Co. this morning to discuss the dual national security and health crises developing at the southern border as the Biden Administration continues their refusal to enforce our immigration laws.

He also discussed President Biden’s wasteful $2 trillion spending package coming through Congress, even as $1 trillion in taxpayer dollars from recent relief measures remain unspent.

Interview Highlights:

On the need to take border security seriously:  “It’s a huge health crisis. If you think back, one of the biggest accomplishments of the Trump Administration was border security, but one of the biggest failures of the Obama Administration was a lack of border security. The difference between the Biden Administration and the Obama Administrations is the fact that we’re in the middle of a pandemic. So with this open border policy that Joe Biden has clearly advertised across the world, many of us in Congress are concerned that not only do we not have border security, we’re going to see an increase in drug and human trafficking and we’re also going to see an increase in Covid cases – coming across our border at a time when we’re finally getting the curve to go in the right direction.”

On the wasteful $2 trillion spending package being pushed by President Biden: “There’s still a trillion dollars of unspent funds from the previous $4 trillion that was spent. The $4 trillion is so much, the federal government can’t even spend it all – but yet the Democrats want to spend another nearly $2 trillion.”
