PURPOSE:
  • To examine the current administration’s rules of engagement, the subsequent battlefield wins against the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS), and next steps in the war against radical Islamic terrorism.
BACKGROUND:
  • In January 2017, the Trump Administration put pressure on ISIS by increasing aerial bombing and the use of Special Forces.
  • ISIS has lost roughly 95 percent of the territory the group once claimed.
  • The President’s delegation of attack authority to military commanders led to a number of important victories against ISIS over the past year.
