Game Changers: Artificial Intelligence Part II, Artificial Intelligence and the Federal Government
PURPOSE:
- To examine the federal government’s engagement of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and how government agencies can adopt AI to make citizen services more effective and efficient.
BACKGROUND:
- On February 14, 2018, the Information Technology Subcommittee held the first hearing of a three-part series. During this hearing, the Subcommittee heard from four experts from the private sector and academia.
- Witnesses made several points about the government’s role in deploying AI. They suggested access to government data, investments in research and development, as well as help in preparing the future AI workforce through investments in STEM education and computer science as specific tasks for the federal government to consider.
