Issa: GOP Will Fight to Block Job-Killing Obama EPA “Endangerment” Ruling

Resolution offers new alternative to Cap & Trade, Endangerment ruling threats to the economy

WASHINGTON D.C. – Rep. Darrell Issa, Ranking Member of the Oversight and Government Reform Committee today announced that he, along with House Republican colleagues will introduce a joint resolution blocking the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) “endangerment” ruling – an ill-advised decision to treat the carbon dioxide that humans exhale as a dangerous pollutant.

Ranking Member Issa released the following statement:

“The Obama administration is holding a gun to the head of the U.S. economy by using the threat of the EPA ‘endangerment’ ruling to bully Congress,” said Rep. Issa.  “This resolution of disapproval to reverse an EPA ruling based on ideological zealotry and corrupted science makes clear that America has an alternative to the job-killing proposals pushed by this Administration.  The President has the authority to stop the export of jobs overseas, but he is instead focused on policies that will expedite the flow of U.S. jobs to China.”

The Disapproval Resolution would retroactively repeal the Endangerment Finding and allow Congress to act with deliberate speed to craft a national energy policy that reduces our dependence on foreign oil, increases efficiency, and preserves jobs.
