On Friday, February 13, 2015, the House Oversight and Government Reform Subcommittee on Transportation and Public Assets and the Subcommittee on Government Operations will hold a joint hearing to examine safety gaps within Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority’s (WMATA) Metrorail system.
The hearing titled, “D.C. Metro: Is There a Safety Gap?”, will address safety concerns surrounding WMATA’s management of the Metrorail system in the wake of a January 12, 2015, incident that resulted in the death of a passenger and the hospitalization of more than 80 riders.
