Chaffetz Statement on Fast and Furious Progress

WASHINGTON, D.C.—House Oversight and Government Reform Committee Chairman Jason Chaffetz (R-UT) released the following statement today after the Department of Justice (DOJ) Office of Inspector General (IG) released a report, titled: A Review of the Department of Justice’s and ATF’s Implementation of Recommendations Contained in the OIG’s Report on Operations Fast and Furious and Wide Receiver. The report highlights DOJ’s sluggish progress in implementing key recommendations made by the IG in 2012 after its review of Operation Fast and Furious and Operation Wide Receiver.

“DOJ has much more work to do, particularly improving coordination with other law enforcement entities. The lack of progress demonstrated in the report raises questions as to how motivated DOJ is in implementing these important recommendations. DOJ leadership must prioritize the IG’s findings. I appreciate the efforts of the IG in working to resolve these outstanding issues.”
