Comer Commends Census Ruling

WASHINGTON—House Committee on Oversight and Reform Ranking Member James Comer (R-Ky.) today commended the Supreme Court decision to end the field operations of the 2020 census. The law requires the census be reported to the president by December 31 and this ruling will allow the census to be complete by the statutory deadline.

“The Supreme Court made the sensible, lawful decision on behalf of the American people to ensure the 2020 census is completed on time. With 99.9% of American households enumerated as of yesterday, there’s no question the census is on track for accurate completion by the end of the year. Census officials have also told the House Committee on Oversight and Reform that they anticipate a complete and accurate census under current deadlines, but Democrats and their left-wing allies have ignored the facts and sought to unnecessarily delay the census. Despite the scare tactics from the left, Americans can have confidence that the 2020 census is counting every resident in the United States and will be accurately and fully completed.”
