Comer: Democrats’ USPS Conspiracy Theory Act is a $25 Billion Political Stunt

WASHINGTON – House Committee on Oversight and Reform Ranking Member James Comer (R-Ky.) issued the following statement after the House Democrats’ voted to make American taxpayers foot the bill for an unnecessary $25 billion bailout for the U.S. Postal Service and prevent it from making reforms to improve operations and efficiency.

“The Democrats’ USPS Conspiracy Theory Act is nothing more than a costly political stunt to the tune of $25 billion. The Postal Service does not need a bailout. They have enough cash on hand to get them through the next year and have access to a $10 billion line of credit if needed. The Postal Service also does not need to be hamstrung by a poorly written and unnecessary bill that prevents reforms to ensure ballots are delivered on time and protect its workforce during the pandemic.

“Americans should not have to foot the bill for the Democrats’ fabricated conspiracy theory about the Postal Service. We all want to see an operational, efficient postal service that best serves Americans, but this bill doesn’t deliver. Despite the Democrats’ scare tactics and misinformation, Americans can be confident that their vote will count in November, regardless of whether they vote in person or by mail.”
