Comer Slams Biden’s Amnesty Proposal

WASHINGTON – Today, House Committee on Oversight and Reform Ranking Member James Comer (R-Ky.) released the following statement on President Biden’s legislative proposal pushing amnesty for 11 million illegal immigrants while containing no reforms to address the issues fueling the border crisis.  

“Our nation was founded on the rule of law but President Biden wants to reward millions of illegal immigrants who broke our laws with amnesty. This is unfair to the millions of legal immigrants who followed the rules to come to the United States the right way and sends the wrong message to the world that our immigration laws can be violated without consequence. President Biden’s amnesty proposal also contains no reforms to address the loopholes that have fueled the crisis at our southern border for nearly a decade. This will only encourage human smugglers to continue exploiting human misery for profit and encourage more to come here illegally. It is imperative we not only enforce our current immigration laws but work to close loopholes in order to prevent others from making the dangerous and illegal journey to America.”
